I was going to start another thread on this, but, could someone explain this one:
1: Space Scientists Battle NASA Cuts
2: NASA Budget Increase Clears Senate Appropriations Committee.
3: NASA Mars Program (and other planetary missions) Threatened by Senate Funding Bill.
I understand the order of it all, one is before two and three is after, but why the cut for robotic missions (some that are still in operation, those that are ready to be launched and some that will actually be recycled to do additional work)? Good grief, Cassini's still out there in it's prime. What of New Horizons... it's not even at it's intended target yet (Pluto-Charon).
I didn't find anything on the actual documents, etc. I can make sense in which the orders are given, but it doesn't make sense.
