Is no one else bothered by the fact that the people who adopted Harry
essentially abuse him? They make him live in a virtual cabinet under the
stairs, deny him information to the outside world, and basically mistreat
him emotionally and verbally if not physically.
And the supposedly all powerful magical world does nothing about it - in
fact I believe they even reprimanded Harry once when he used his powers
to get back at one rude relative. If anything the kid showed restraint
against such obnoxious SOBs.
I am amazed that I have seen so few complaints on this matter, especially
since this is series is so popular with children. Is no one else bothered by
this? Am I making too big a deal about seeing a child essentially mistreated
and those who could stop it do nothing?
Yes, I kow it's fiction and yes I know we've had abusive parental figures
going way back in fairy tale stories, but does this make it right? It really
bothers me to see how cruel they are to Harry and quite frankly that is
one reason I have not gotten into the series.
