I can’t remember exactly (And I don’t have my copy anymore) but I think Turtledove had an astronaut named Glen Johnston, or something like that. But it was obviously supposed to be John Glenn. I have never seen a writer do that before.
I thought that was a very interesting way to put a living person into a work of fiction.
