As a scientist you know....

There are often statistical anomalies- I have known people that have had lightning strike near them (within a few yards) a few times- There was one tree near my child hood home that, for no logical reason I could deduce, was struck MANY times by lightning- the only thing that made it different from the surrounding trees was that it was a Maple, not and oak... I am not sure how that fact would matter.... but I guess there are some possibile theories I could come up with...

I have had many of 'one in a million' coincidences happen to me, but when you think about the millions of events that happen in a person's day to day life its not that surprising that 'one in a million' coincidences happen fairly often... As for the guy, mentioned below, that supposedly has been hit by lightning many times- well I would like to see the documentation, but if its true it doesnt shock me- pun intended- There are choices people can make that greatly influence their chances of being struck....

I have been in a house when it was hit by lightning at least twice- it was quite an experience... Th appropriate response to highly unlikely coincidences is to say ' Hey, that was a wierd coincidence', It is when people assign deep meaning to them that insanity ensues...
