Perhaps we are starting to see the decoupling of political ideology from partisanship. I agree with Newt on very little, but there's no denying he is a man of considerable intellect. And he is no doubt eager to get his revenge on the neocon cabal that ousted him from power. I think a comparable struggle is now just starting to get underway in the Democratic party. Let's hope the latter can achieve a politics based on reality, and not on ideological fervor. As far apart as the philosophy of left and right are, for most of the challenges facing the nation, it should make no difference.
