I don't consider myself to be knowledgeable at all about matters financial -- hell, it's only been since this job started that I've ever been able to put savings away. But I listen to "Marketplace" on NPR, and I sure knew about the sub-prime mortgage mess.

I also have been putting off enrolling in my employers' 401k, since I became eligible in March... not because of anything I've heard, just the usual procrastination. Now I think I'll wait even longer, see what the market does, and 'buy low'.
