It's not the Red Dawn UN paras you need that assault rifle for, and its not jack-booted statist storm troopers swooping in on black helicopters that you really fear. It's that intruder in the night, or that gang of street thugs that will come when the cops refuse to report to work, and he, and they, are always black, aren't they?
And don't take it personal. I'm a Southerner, I have the same bogeyman. I just know where that bad dream comes from, and I can admit it to myself. I'm not armed to fight off the Klan, racist skinheads, redneck vigilante lynch mobs, motorcycle gangs, the Tex-Mex drug cartels or right-wing militias. The bad dream I'm talking about has been around a long time, we're just too ashamed to say it out loud.
