Lindy--there is nothing wrong with dreaming, or creativity, or art or beauty. And none of these things is inconsistent with my view of the universe. I write poetry and listen to beautiful music and read literature because of my interest in science, not in spite of it. I can also see the natural beauty in a raging sea, or a starry night, or a mathematical equation as much as the next man. I am confident in my capacity of experiencing the infinite, or of undergoing a spiritual experience, of loving another human being and of appreciating the subtlety and nobility of the human spirit.
I get very suspicious of individuals who claim they have some special talent of appreciating and explaining the ineffable to me. Who do these pious frauds think they are, and what gives them the right to think that the rest of us are brutish Philistines who need their instruction to aquire their levels of emotional refinement? I am just as qualified as Mssrs Robbins, Chokra and Peale to comment on the human condition. Perhaps even more so, because I'm not doing it as a business.
There is no Secret. The truth is all around us. All we have to do is look for it ourselves. It is only those who think in terms secrets and conspiracies who need others to tell them what is real and what is not. "Nature is subtle, but she is not malicious." Albert Einstein said that.
