I've read it.
The copy I had carried a single picture of a hammer on the cover.
I had mixed feelings about the ending--I was happy the human race was surviving (I thought "On the Beach" both sucked and was unrealistic), but unhappy that technology seemed to have been abandoned. Still, at the time I read it, I thought the ending was positive overall.
That was, IMO, somewhat unrealistic, too. I am starting a new thread on this idea.
