Now before anyone gets up in arms that this is a post about man-made global warming, it's not. I still am not fully convinced that the warming we're seeing is entirely man's fault and that there could be significant things outside our control and our modeling abilities that could be major factors so let's not turn this discussion into some heated debate about politics.

My intent here is to talk about the possible coming Ice Age that I think this
very informative website seems to indicate we may be at the verge of regardless of the cause of the warming.

I'm sure many of you have seen the Discovery Channel program about how significant ice melt in the Arctic during the past is suspected of diluting salt water in the oceans and disrupting the natural convective flow that moderates our global temperatures and keeps the cold near the poles and a livable climate elsewhere. The theory is that a disruption of that flow is the primary cause of ice ages on our planet.

This website for the first time I've heard documents recorded recent changes to that convective flow that could be the beginning of that trigger.

If this is true, the problem our children will face will not be rising oceans washing out coastal cities but instead huge glacial takeovers of much of our livable land and we're probably too late to stop it. Wouldn't it be ironic if, in the next century, we were looking for ways to supplement the Greenhouse Effect in order to heat our planet back up?
