Look at it as part of a broader perspective.

Russia is becoming more and more dangerous.

Russia's long-term strategic agenda is being revitalized; it's military is gradually rebuilding, remobilizing, modernizing, and aggressively posturing after Yeltsin's years of neglect and incompetence.
While their North Pole stunt was mere tokenism, other actions are not.
Putin's secret service is homocidal, even beyond it's borders.
Russia's media is increasingly restricted and harrassed.
Now Putin has just dissolved the Duma [Legislature]
to appoint a Premier of his own chosing without using the Duma
to vote on it.
Internationally?
They are after Syria to provide them with a navy base in the
Mediterranean like in the 'good old days'.
They have increasing miltary links with China.
They won't tolerate any American-imposed settlement
in the Balkans against Serbia's interests; Serbia being one
of Russia's few allies left in eastern Europe.
Iran is virtually a military protectorate of Russia.
Watch what happens when America tries to carry out a sustained
bombing campaign against Iran. Russia will not only provide
Iran with plenty of AA weapons, and some nasty surprises in the form of
attack weaponry, but Russian supersonic jets with
Russian 'volunteer' pilots as well.

Russia is reviving the 'Cold War'.
