I'm not going to be much help on the wireless system itself--I'm hardwired in my house, except for some of the Macs that run to an AirPort wireless. I have yet to get a PC to talk to that thing.
However, it's good news you have WPA working. I have heard that it is far more secure than WEP, and I've heard one or two sources say that WEP is almost as bad as nothing. If you can solve your other problem, try and get it working on WPA.
