Yes. Right at the top of a blog. The author of the blog made the same assumption you did, on no data. Look at the news story he links to.

This is how crap gets started. Maybe he is a Republican. Maybe he isn't. But you don't know, do you?

This is also why, when you read something in a blog, or on Drudge, or even in a news story, you should follow the report back to its original sources as far as is possible and use your own judgement.
