Mars G= 38% that of Earth

When the astronauts went to the Moon, they first tried a 13 day long Gemini flight in 0 G.

Here, it's impossible to train astronauts at 38% of a G after they had spent 6 months in 0 G and then 6 other months in 0 G before being back! The wisest thing is 0 G for 3 years.
