"Producers vs workers"

Wow. I've been exposed to that kind of rhetoric and that kind of thinking for so long now that it can be dumped right in my lap and I don't even notice it any more. The fundamental contempt, yes, hatred, implicit in that dichotomy doesn't even strike me instantly with outrage. I've become immunized against recognizing class hatred.

Yeah, for those who subscribe to this obscene Randian logic, there are only two kinds of people, the hard-working, creative, innovative, courageous, intelligent, PRODUCERS, and...everybody else, the looters, the lazy, shifty, stupid, criminal, unambitious freeloading, irresponsible WORKERS. We've heard it before, remember the "47 percent".

And what's really sad is that this kind of thinking isn't just limited to the one percenters and Daddy Warbucks types. They have somehow managed to convince a good number of their victims, workers, that they are not just mere workers, that they are really producers too, that they could be rich and famous and self-actualized and fulfilled if it just wasn't for those damn Jews, commies, foreigners, blacks, Liberals, unions, workers.

And then they have the audacity to accuse Democrats of instigating class hatred and waging class warfare.

Thanks, Bowser. I needed that.
