...it refers to something happening - it is a verbish noun. It does not usually describe something for which there is no apparent action (as in the population statistics you pointed out).
Now it is possible that the population statistics you show, are the result of cleansing. It is also possible that they are not. It would make far more sense if you could show the actual cleansing that you say took place (if that's what you claim).
There aren't a lot of Jews in Mexico, either. I shudder to think what must have happened there!
