No, we could go on like this forever
Geez, you and your out-of-context quotes. Let's take it from the top:
The very point of the Nobel Peace Prize is to reward people who work for peace. Show me one self-respecting Conservative who doesn't think that peace is for weaklings and Commies. Is it any surprise that Conservatives are noticeably absent from the list of Nobel Peace Prize winners? Is it any surprise that few winners of the Prize will meet with approval from the Right?
What implication? I came right out and said that the Nobel Peace Prize is not the sort of thing a reasonable person would expect a Conservative to covet.
Are you really going to try to sell the idea that nobody criticized the politics of this process until Gore won?
Excuse meeee for not spelling it out for you, but I guess it was too subtle a point when I outlined the timelessness of Conservative disdain for Nobel Peace Prize winners. Of course I'm aware that Conservatives have long criticized the process...see, it kinda connects back to that timelessness thing, ya see...and that's the point of course: Against a steady drone of complaining about the Nobel Peace Prize, the attack on it today after Al Gore has won it smells a lot more like a Conservative smear campaign than any thoughtful observation.
Got it?
You're losin' it, Tom: "a former dictator of the Soviet Union"...uh, just to be clear, you are referring to Mikhail Gorbachev, right? Mr. Glasnost? Reformer? The guy who brought the Soviet Union in for a relatively soft landing, compared to the Gotterdamerung it might've been? That "former dictator"? Right, sure, he did nothing to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. BTW, didn't he end up at the Hoover Institution here at Stanford? You know, the RightWing think tank?
As for Reagan...well, I can't bring myself to throw his dementia at you. I thought that went too far. I'll just point out that nothing that Reagan ever said or did evidenced a desire for peace, and he's celebrated by Republicans entirely for his toughness. Sorry, but while Reagan may have deserved many honors, the Nobel Peace Prize would simply be absurd.
