First, friends come and go but enemies last a long, long time.

Second, the use of power creates enemies. Every time.

Third, in those rare instances when violence is necessary, power has failed. Used properly it doesn't have to be used.

And fourth, the way that's being tried isn't working. It is counterproductive. Iraq is lost, Afghanistan is lost, and Iran would be lost. The US has gone from having the moral leadership of the world to just another thug, has gone from the mightiest military power to one bogged down in two minor countries with no reserves. From wealth to huge debt, huge deficits, to an economic recession on the horizon rapidly bearing down on the East Coast, the Gulf Coast, the West Coast and all points in between.

The neocons have not been correct yet, and have lost ground, standing, lives, money, and any moral high ground the US had along the way. The US is just another thug on the world scene, the biggest thug. Time to change.
