Not a single space telescope (except those attached to the shuttle) has been brought back home
even though they expanded our knowledge of the universe.
Telescopes get very quickly old (3 years) and if they can't be renewed, they'll be cought up by better ones.
The HST cannot have a larger mirror than it has (unless it's so much changed that an entirely new one (and cheaper) could do a better job).
