Why is any drug illegal?

This is one area where I fall firmly into the Libertarian camp. Obviously there are huge problems from the ABUSE of drugs and I have no aversion to there being laws against that abuse or the consequences of it.

I also have no problem with age restrictions on use as there is with alcohol.

I think that there would be no issue with these athletes enhancing their performance if it were all out in the open. It's the sneakiness of it all that gets under the public's skin.

I also agree with Robert that for sports purists who track athletic feats over the ages, there's nothing wrong with anyone who wants to put asterisks next to records where we're comparing apples and oranges. It's not like the long dead athletes care anyway. It's simply entertainment and pretty silly stuff anyway compared with real human issues we face every day.

Just maybe, if we knew for sure that these "heroes" we worship in our society were getting on the field juiced up, they'd lose a bit of their idol status and seem a bit more pathetic. Charles Barkley was right when he said he was no role model. They shouldn't be. They're simply overgrown kids that get paid way too much money.

I only watch one professional sport anymore and that's NBA basketball. The rest are extremely boring because very little action goes on throughout most of the game. I'm tiring very quickly of it though because an entire season goes by where they actually call fouls and attempt to keep it a non-contact sport and then the playoffs hit and the meanest and dirtiest team is allowed to win to appeal to the blood lust in the general public. My guess is by next year I'll be done with pro sports entirely. (Might be tough though. My wife is a huge Suns fan.)
