The Democrats control both houses of Congress.

I think it's pretty clear with recent events such as Joe Lieberman endorsing the human comb-over that he's a Democrat in name only. I'm pretty sure the Republicans made it clear that Smokin Joe is on their side and that they'd allow the Democrats the illusion of control if they didn't play hardball and only ushered through innocuous bills and stayed away from real investigations until 2008.

If they strayed from the course, good old Lie-berman would have an epiphany, switch his party, turn the Senate control back to the Republicans, take away Reid's title, and fill the committees once again with the koolaid drinkers.

There have been just way too many opportunities for Pelosi and Reid to go for the throat if such a threat isn't looming over them. Hell, they're both being debased daily by their own party members. Do you really think they'd take that if they had any true power?

Now I'm not excusing them. I think they should have told the thugs to fuck themselves and spilled the plot to the public before Joe could make the switch. The country's salivating right now for some alternative huevos and it'd be just the recipe.

That's not a massive unseen conspiracy. It's just Washington hardball at its finest and the Dems suck at playing it. That in no way though makes Bush innocent. He'll go down in history as the most criminal of all our leaders. You can quote me on that one.
