re: Thousands -- because they last so long.

Yes, we will see won't we? My experience with CFL has not been so great. In those recessed ceiling fixtures, they burned out quickly - sometimes in less than a month. So I read the boxes and low and behold, CFLs are not designed for recessed fixtures.

It's a BIG money grab MA. That's all it is. Companies like GE will love it. It will force expensive bulbs on the masses, probably new fixtures and lamps as well.

And what's worse? When electrical consumption even drops a smidge, the electric providers will JACK UP the rates. So now using LESS electricity will cost EXACTLY the same or MORE than it does now. And all those poor folks still stuck with incandescents will be hurt the MOST.

That's the way you justify a big money grab these days - pretend you're doing it to save the planet and tell everyone they're doing a good thing. Pat them on the head as you reach in and grab their wallet.

Just wait and see!

The gas companies will figure the angle out soon, and create a "special blend" of gas that is produced using "enviro-friendly" means. It will cost 5.00 a gallon but will be marketed to all those who succumb to such enviro-marketing. Anything "earth friendly" can cost more and people will pay for that little "psychological pick me up" they get when they purchase such stuff.
