First, the US is over there. They aren't floating off of Long Island. Think of what the US would do if there were a number of Iranian aircraft carriers off Long Island, especially if the Iranian CinC had been threatening to attack the US.

Second, the US has harassed foreigners since before 1776 and will continue to do so. The US has shot down airplanes, sunk ships, bashed into submarines, violated sovereign territory at it's pleasure. It's a fact of life. The US is eavesdropping, spying, supplying weapons, attacking countries simply for economic interests, torturing, killing at the whim of a born-again Christian president.

(Now neocons believe if the US does it that's fine, but if someone else does it that's unfair. Part of the neocon doctrine. As intellectually sound as the rest of their beliefs.)

2 1/2 - What is "provovative" is the US being there. Halfway 'round the world.
