Will your middle of the road video card work on Linux?

I'm going to get a couple of computers soon, and would like to load them with Linux. However, I also want a good video card to run the 24" WUXGA monitor I got, and an HDTV card.

I don't have the slightest idea if the add-on, PCI-E graphics cards will work or not.

Thanks in advance for whatever attention someone can give this.
