My son who is a Tech Manager at Office Depot offers this advice:
Hey, this is Cameron, I'm Jody's son and the biggest nerd you'll ever meet. First, Office Depot sells a 22 in. version of that Vaio for the same price.
My only concern is if the monitor goes out, you're out a computer all-together.
My advice is to get a laptop, and ask your cell-phone provider for a wireless 3G laptop card. This will get you high-speed internet wherever you get cell-phone coverage (anywhere on the planet basically!). It's better than wi-fi because its way more secure, and has no limit to its range.
Second, buy a slingbox. It's a network tv tuner. Several different models are available, but it basically is set up at your house. You will need a router as well. The most basic slingbox has a coax input and will tune up to 99 channels. The middle grade one actually will hook into your satellite or cable box, and control it, so you will get the program guide, dvr if you have it, so it would be the exact same tv setup you have at home, just on the pc. (plus, it works on smartphones too!) Go to www.slingmedia.com for more info., but you have tv as long as you have an internet connection.
That setup would allow you too have digital cable or satellite anywhere on the planet, no matter where you are, without having to tote an ass-load of equipment. Plus, you can get all that for cheaper than that Vaio.
Anyway, just some thoughts from a guy who sells this crap for a living.
