Overseas respect

Just as important is the fact that, while you may have the freedom to cover your eyes to avoid gazing upon Thompson's visage, if he becomes President he'll be dealing face-to-face with other world leaders and with domestic political leaders and in general people with above-average ego and arrogance. His appearance and demeanor matter greatly if he's to project a convincing sense that he really is the President. If he doesn't impress American voters, how can he impressively represent the United States?

Considering their top candidates, I really don't think Democrats want to go there.

Oddly, you mention Edwards and Kucinich, but seem to gloss over having a woman and a black dealing with foreign leaders who have less-than-ideal views on equality. How do you think Hillary will impress Islamic leaders? Did you miss the undercurrent in Nevada pertaining to Hispanic voters and a black candidate? I suspect the same would be true of Latino leaders. At least Europe wouldn't be a problem here. I'm not sure about Asian nations.

I don't like this any more than you do, but it's there.
