Iraq is still there but right now people are scared to death because of the economy. You threaten the bread on people's table and that's the only thing they're going to be thinking about. Also, as a nation, we tend to have ADD. But it'll come back on the table.
Of the Democrats, I really liked Joe Biden but he just didn't have the machine or the charisma to make it. I'm vacillating between Clinton, Obama and Edwards. Each one brings something unique to the table. Too bad we can't have all three in one!
If McCain became President, he would be a uniting force, not a divisive one IMO. I like McCain although I disagree with him on some issues. But I can disagree with him and still respect his views because he doesn't come to his views or decisions based on what is politically expedient but on what is right. I don't agree with him on Iraq but I think he would at least handle it better than Bush. I could sit back and disagree but not be scared to death he was going to get us into a nuclear holocaust or be caught sleeping at the wheel about how terrorists might try to attack us. My biggest worry about him is his age.
I don't ever base my political views based on appearances. I was not a Reagan supporter when he was running. I was a newspaper reporter for a small town daily. An editor ran an editorial about Reagan, dissing him which was fine until he wrote the words that made me see red and are forever etched in my memory. He wrote that Reagan was too old to be President and spoke of "the waving wattles of his neck." I sat down and wrote a letter to the editor and tore that SOB a new one for having dissed the man for his physical appearance.
You want to piss me off? Talk about not voting for Thompson because he's balding (I think he has a commanding appearance even if I don't like his politics) or not voting for Hilary because you don't like her hair color or Obama because he's black or his middle name is Hussein. BFD! If your politics are based on physical appearance, you don't have political views and don't deserve to be ABLE to vote!
