re: In answer to your question of…

What I said was:
"Other than Oxygen being magnetically accelerated, what other measurable quantities are leaving earth? "

Your reference didn't answer this question. In that article what had something to do with this question was:

""The more we measured it," he said, "the more we realized that this was a big source of material." RIMS measured ions of hydrogen, helium, oxygen, and nitrogen rising at different speeds and on different trajectories."

This doesn't tell me much.

And this:
"Part of the challenge in these studies is that most of the magnetotail is made of the same material as the solar wind: protons. Actually, they are called hydrogen ions, but since most hydrogen is made of one proton circled by one electron, a hydrogen ion is just a free proton. And protons don't carry ID cards to tell whether they came from the Sun or the Earth. (Isotope analysis counts the numbers of protons and neutrons in an atom, so it only works on heavier elements.)"

Now, what this tells me, is that using these methods it is hard to quantify the amount of Hydrogen which comes from Earth rather than from the Sun.
[Some Oxygen also btw, comes from the solar wind, so even with Oxygen one might possibility have some problem isolating it.]

But it any case this reference does not provide any answer to question of how much of Earth's atmosphere is escaping into space [I.e. tons per year]. Nor of how much is escaping, through a means other than via the Earth's magnetosphere and the magnetosphere's tail.
