and so convenient we don't mention the anti-miracles when we start talking about some person that escapes death. Of all the people that have been in the operating room for cardiac problems where their loved ones sat outside and prayed their hearts out and they ended up dying anyway, was there a seminar on praying that those people missed? Did they simply not pray properly? Did that doctor have some inside connection with the Almighty that made his prayer go to the top of the queue? Why do people never ask the question why the miracle wasn't the prevention of the heart attack in the first place?
Give me a break Lindy. Every time someone uses some "answered" prayer as proof of a miracle they're conveniently ignoring the huge number of prayers that don't work at all, and when those are applied to rather hopeless situations such as a person near death, my guess is that the odds overwhelmingly would show there to be no statistical advantage at all probably instead showing the supreme being as rather cruel, heartless, and sadistic.
I get it that you're constantly searching for answers in life to those bizarre occurances that from time to time appear to be beyond simple physics and human understanding. Life is more rich because there are people like you that bring stuff like this to our attention but the topic of prayer opens the biggest can of worms ever especially when it involves people asking their god(s) for some personal favor.
It immediately implies that our lives are not our own and that something out there can control every aspect. That is not a reassuring thing to most people considering the history mankind has had and the incredible evil and suffering we've experienced. It also casts a very negative light on the person praying for something because it shows that the person believes, with all the cosmic oversight their creator must attend to, their problem is worthy of consideration above all else. It is frankly a sign of arrogance if the person knows ahead of time that only a small number of pleas are truly answered.
