"The initial premise is a bit much. Even the IPCC doesn't talk about ten meter ocean rises. In their recent report, the worst case estimate over the next hundred years is about two feet."
I agree that the 10 meter rise in sea level was a bit much. I don't think RL even believes in such nonsense. But Al Gore does- or says he does.
Rather than even a 1 meter rise in sea levels, I think that significant rises in Global CO2 [presently at around 380 ppm] were to rise to 700 ppm globally that would mean higher levels of CO2 in urban environments, and perhaps as high as 2000 ppm in some parts of a city. And that would begin to be a problem in terms human health affects.
But the problem we were asked to consider was the possible 1-2 C increase in global temperature and 1-10 meter rise in sea level and how to solve by non-central planning type approaches.
Sort of like if Aliens land from outer space, what would a good way to deal with it. Of course at the moment there are less people worried about the Alien Landing then Al Gore's End Times.
