Murderers will use whatever weapon they can find. However, a knife or a pitchfork doesn't spray bullets out at a rate of thousands of rounds per minute. Were I to walk into a situation where someone was threatening people with a knife compared with someone on their finger of an Uzi, the odds that I could successfully disarm the guy with the knife or, if I was just cowardly, successfully evade harm would be immeasurably higher.

Show me a gun the sprays "thousands of rounds per minute". Even fully automatic weapons only fire several hundred rounds a minute, and they are extremely rare in the US. Hell show me the last murder that was committed with an uzi in the US. Most military style weapons sold in the US are just that, military STYLE weapons. Some guns are cosmetically made to look like a military weapon, but are in fact not the same weapon. They are SEMI automatic. This means that they fire ONE round per pull of the trigger. Anti Constitution types use the same hyperbole and alarmism as do the global warming fanatics.
