I think the rank-and-file Conservative has been betrayed by these folks, too. I suspect many of them are as disillusioned by these folks as are responsible Americans and that they are stuck with them. To repudiate their leadership's foolishness means to abandon their larger beliefs, because there is no other alternative. To be Conservative these days is difficult and I suppose one can feel sorry for them.
