re: It's not the war spending that's the problem.

Yeah Tom, the part of our expense that was there before the wars started with our economy swimming along just fine is to blame instead of this additional multitrillions of waste that started leeching out of our coffers. Your charts always are just so friggin logical there pal.

No one is disputing that social programs take a large chunk of change to finance but there's a return on that expense not only in money spent within our borders, salaries paid to the government workers, and above all quality of life for our citizens.

Other than the gains in profit to our military industrial complex, military adventures bleed a country dry. The things that are manufactured blow up for the most part or cause destruction that the occupying country takes the responsibility of replacing. I heard a guestimate today that the total cost of the war to date, long speculated to be around 3 trillion dollars, is more in the vicinity of 5 trillion dollars.

So let me get this right, your vision for America is one where we are armed to the teeth exerting our military muscle around the world while our elderly sell pencils on the corners and people wait in bread lines devasted by disease because they can't get quality health care while the fortunate among us drive their boats around the lakes unburdened by having to help out their neighbors. Nice world Tom.
