Sounds like he nailed it pretty good

It's not that it's too left-wing or too right-wing, although the newspapers have their politics, it is that the media is a disorganised conspiracy to maintain people in a sort of perpetual state of self-righteous rage.

So for newspapers, and to a certain extent the broadcast media I'm afraid, the story that sells is 'government is rubbish', 'the world is awful', 'we're being swamped by immigrants', 'we're all going to get bird flu', and global warming is either going to kill us tomorrow or the whole thing is exaggerated by politicians trying to force new taxes on you. So the constant tone of what you read in the media, it's written in order to appeal to our desire to feel that we've been oppressed and we've been done down.

If people were aware that the media had an axe to grind, no less than those who put the commercials on TV, they could have a bit more objectivity about it.
