Thanks for posting that. I was afraid no one would believe me.

Of course, if someone had told me a year ago that a state governor would take over the government of a city, appoint his own unelected commissar to run the place, and, in a cost-cutting measure, alter the city's utility water source which would lead to a poisoning of thousands of kids with high levels of lead, I wouldn't have believed that either.

My friend, who used to work as a chemist for a city water treatment plant, told me this problem is not all that unusual, and that it is routinely dealt with by a simple chemical treatment to raise the pH of the water so it does not corrode the pipes. It costs about $100 a day. Still, accidents happen, and stuff falls through the cracks.

What is not an accident is that after the problem was discovered, the State governor tried everything he could to discredit the whistle blowers who were reporting the extreme levels of Pb in the water and the children, and to cover up the magnitude of the catastrophe.. Now, he is hiring lawyers and PR firms to cover his ass.

Somebody really needs to hang for this one.
