All good points, but I have to add:

I love the resourcefulness of robotics, but I think that it will take humans to do a proper digging on Mars as in those necessary core samples I've been writing of for probably a decade now. Why not use ISS as the lab it was intended to be to study Martian samples?

It's almost fitting that I've been missing those 'greybeards' now that NASA's turning fifty.
