Current Events » in reply to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia dead at 79

Obama should immediately nominate Eric Holder to replace him.

After all, Congress has already approved him once for AG, so he should have no trouble breezing through Congress, right? Or how about Loretta Lynch, the current AG. She was approved by the Republicans for the Cabinet too, and she deserves some consideration for the long and humiliating wait she was forced to endure by the Republicans before she took her post.

The Republicans will, of course, oppose them. But can you think of any Obama nominee they won't oppose? Can you think of any nominee any Democratic President in 2017 might put forward they won't oppose? They are saying now that no one should succeed Scalia until the new President is sworn in next year, on the off-chance the next Commander in Chief will be a Republican and the Senate is still in GOP hands.

If they want to subject the nation to a year with a deadlocked SCOTUS, then Barry should oblige them--but make them pay a price! Obama should have a long list of young, qualified, lefty jurists drawn up and make the GOP go through the motions of shooting each and every one of them down, one after another. Let every hippy lawyer in the country get a crack at the job! It will be delightful watching the Conservatives come up with excuses why every single one of them should be disqualified.

It will make beautiful counterpoint to the discordant atonal melodies of the 2016 elections and give the electorate--and the Liberal Media--the opportunity to watch and comment on the GOP blackmail, obstruction and sabotage machine in all its glory.

Revel, revel, revel.
