My best friend was diagnosed with Astrocytoma (a form of glioma) in April. Her docs said she'd be dead by Christmas. She's still here. They chemoed her and she lost her hair. They installed an artificial pump in her skull because the cancer had eaten her natural one away. The emotional center on the right side of her brain was damaged. She came to me to recuperate after surgery. Nothing was sacred. Black humor was the mainstay and we laughed almost constantly. Two years later the cancer was still there but they never did chemo again. Treated her seizures and gave her pain pills and that was it, waiting for her to die. One day, about another year or so later, she threw her pills in the trash and said, "Screw it!" They did an MRI and CT scan and the cancer was gone. 25 years later she's still here, and in better health than I am, although she still has the damn pump (and always will).

What I am saying here is that miracles DO happen. I personally believe all the laughter started the healing.
