A few observations...
First of all, the ad is from 2003, and the current photos seem to be, well, current, and from a different field. Good catch, but the new circles aren't a shaver ad.
Lindy's original post link has a lot more new information. The outfit that posted the Flickr photos called "Enlighteningshades," seems to be generating some kind of graffiti art project.

Obviously man-made. Interesting how much "science" that one person got off it on the original link. Sometimes it's all on the "other end of the telescope."
