Didn't the original plan for this kind of lander...
Have a small Mars Pathfinder/Sojourner type rover that would
have gone along on the mission?
It wouldn't have gotten very far, but any new perspectives and
data would have been great, of course. Though I get the feeling
that Phoenix's immediate surroundings are pretty similar.
It will be interesting to see what things look like once the frost
starts condensing.
