Obama's uncle helped liberate Auschwitz!

I knew there was some commie somewhere in his background...

Seriously, though, this is an ad-lib. I didn't see it in his prepared speech, and I can think of several brain farts that could have this result, not least of which would be simply having the name "Auschwitz" come to mind on the spur of the moment instead of one of the camps that actually was liberated by other nations (I actually figured out how Obama could easily have made the "57" state flub, and did I get any credit for it?)

Look, all I ask is that Republican gaffes and Democratic gaffes be treated equally. A Republican who said anything like Obama's been saying for weeks would have been flayed alive for it. If it had been McCain, the word "senility" would have been used.

If the MSM would either A) be more forgiving of Republican officials who they don't like or B) be a little tougher on Democratic officials they do like, the world would be a better place. In this case, I don't think Barack Obama is deliberately lying, or trying to pull a fast one. It sounds like a family "legend" in which the specific horrors of war witnessed by his uncle are mistaken as the years go by. It happens, and Obama only deserves the lightest of metaphorical slaps on the wrist for it. But it would help if his fans in the press actually paid attention to what he says.
