Is this really automobile racing?

Cars designed to go in straight lines except for two identical left-hand banked turns at the ends. Even their suspensions are tuned to favor left hand turns. And they cancel the race when it starts to rain? What wimps.

Real auto racing is done on road courses with realistic and varied turns, banks, hills, blind spots and different length straight-aways punctuated with varying radius turns, chicanes, serpentines and other problems. The cars should also be real cars with market production runs, and with headlamps, windscreen wipers, a limited modification production motor under the bonnet and a spare tyre in the boot. And of course, it's not a real race unless the cars run day and night, and in whatever kind of weather shows up on race day.

The only thing Nascar and Indy style racing has got going for it IS Danica. She can drive my car anytime. Beep Beep, um beep beep, yeah!
