GTO
Gran Turismo Omologato = Homologated Grand Touring
"Homologated" meant at least 100 vehicles were in the production run, ensuring it was not a one-off specialized racing machine. The GT designation meant it was a street-legal machine with turn signals, fenders and bumpers, spare, wipers, and so on, not a Formula car. GTO was a racing class, further subdivided by engine displacement. The Pontiac product of the same name was technically a GTO, but so was my VW beetle.
I never did learn how to ride a bike, they always scared me to death.
