I understand the need, at times, especially with low angle relationships, such as stratigraphic correlation diagrams. But nothing pisses me off more than a drill section with vertical exaggeration. Angular relationships are essential to structural geology and an exaggerated vertical section just messes all that up. Sure, I can compensate, but it still makes me mad. If you can't fit it into the frame, change the the scale! But do it in all dimensions. I guess it was my graduate advisor, an old school field geologist, that beat that opinion into me. Twenty years and thousands of sections later, I still agree with him.
Worse yet: an exaggerated section that doesn't tell you it is an exaggerated section. Arrrrrrggggg!

Me, I don't care for vertical exaggeration.
