Because I'm 60, and THAT"s too old.

Not necessarily in terms of health and vigor, I'm in pretty good shape for an old fart, I can still jog 5 miles, swim a mile, and ride a bicycle for 20 miles whenever I want. And in an emergency, I could probably do all three on the same day.

But mentally, I've gotten old; lazy and intolerant, cranky and set in my ways. I can recognize this intellectually but I can't (or won't!) do anything to stop it emotionally. I actually enjoy prefer being this way now! I know I can make up for it to a certain extent with my additional experience and wisdom, but I also know this is the time to start winding down my career, not ratcheting it up to a higher level.

I know that all people are not the same, that there is great variation in humanity; but as a general rule there should be a mandatory retirement age of 70 for all people who's directly careers affect the lives and welfare of others.
