Sorry, I thought the subject was using fear as a political weapon.

I didn't even get to "Republicans, if elected, will start a nuclear war."

And please, a little perspective. "Dark stain on our nation?" The violations of civil and human rights so far even identifiable as such have been microscopic. The vast majority of prisoners in this war have been treated better and given more legal rights than any POWS in our country's history. None of which, to the best of my recollection, were given lawyers.

You missed quoting this part:

Parhat, 37, petitioned the court to review the evidence in his case. U.S. government officials have argued that he trained at a camp in Afghanistan and worked with al-Qaeda terrorists, but Defense Department officials have long agreed that Parhat and other Uighurs should not be detained.

U.S. officials have had difficulty finding a country willing to accept the men but do not want to release them to their native China, where they fear they could be tortured or killed. Five Uighurs who were cleared for release were transferred to Albania in 2006.

No doubt when the Democrats are running things, all these people will be brought to televised trials with attorneys fighting to get in front of the cameras to defend them. As these show trials tend to go, no doubt most will be released.

FDR, the hero of the Left, threw an entire race into camps, and they were people who demonstrated a hell of a lot less threat to our country than those in Guantanamo. Somehow we survived as a nation.
