NOW you're talking! It's obvious that some large motors have to be on the road: semis, busses, perhaps even an occasional Hummer or van. But the roads used to be a lot safer for compacts and mid-size autos before the massive vehicles being aggressively marketed lately became so popular. It's not just a question of sheer weight of metal, but of visibility as well. I have to back out my Sentra every day from a head-on parking slot while flanked by a monster truck on one side and a bloated SUV on the other (both usually equipped with tinted windows so I can't see through them any more than I can see over or around them). And I'm not even talking about handling characteristics, braking efficiency or COG issues.
If self defense were the only criterion, then we should all be tooling around town in Bradleys.
But I will refrain from making any specific recommendations. This appears to be one problem the market is going to take care of all by itself.
