I was trying too hard to be clever, and wanted to avoid an easy shot like the Thieve's Guild or the Merchant's Association. In any case, I wouldn't anticipate that Pratchett would create an anthropomorphic personification of American Conservatism, but the DiscWorld's aristocracy does sort of represent the British conservative establishment. If only American Conservatives could be so reserved, and learn to keep their upper lips so stiff, America would be a much quieter and pleasant place.
