Speech patterns
Oh, when I go home to the Mohawk Valley it takes me two minutes to lapse back into those speech patterns. In southern PA, I talk like the people who grew up here. (I've lived here for 20 years.) My husband's drawl returns when he's in the mountains. Drifting speech patterns don't surprise me.
Politics is part performance art. Politicians attempt to fit in with the group they're trying to impress. Some are better at it than others.
