We will have to visit the historic sites and take samples.

Even Conrad and Bean did that for Surveyor 3.

There are sound scientific reasons for this!
How did this or that material survive all that time?
What are the effects of micrometeorites?

Any company ready to go to the Moon will have to show some seriousness in order to attract investors.

There won't be any pillage.
